Luke is a Photographer, Videographer, and Camera Trainee based in Manchester, UK.

Starting with photography as a hobby, Luke has quickly progressed over a short amount of time to a freelancer in video and photo production, having dived into shooting, editing, and colour grading. He also uses his past experiences and knowledge in music production to bring an ear for detail when it comes to recording and mixing sound.

Luke has worked with a number of musicians, charities and local filmmakers to create engaging and enjoyable content, and in doing so has developed his skills and understanding of cameras, set etiquette, and business.

Luke has recently graduated with a 2:1 in BA Film Production at The University of Salford, and is looking to enter the industry as a kit house technician and camera assistant. In the meantime, Luke has secured himself a job as an Editor and Production Assistant for Switzerland based startup, EDACY.

Kit Experience

Luke has been using a combination of Panasonic and Canon gear in his work. He primarily uses Canon lenses with mirrorless cameras, such as the Panasonic GH5 and G7, adapting the lenses via a Viltrox speedbooster. This is mainly because of how mirrorless lenses are built, and using the focus ring proves less than reliable so DSLR lenses are more preferable, and there’s a wider range of them which are just as good as any premium mirrorless lenses.

When he’s not shooting with a DSLR or Mirrorless camera, he uses his iPhone for impromptu photos when he’s out and about. The Moment app saves photos in a TIFF format to save as much data as possible in the photos, and then they’re edited in Adobe Lightroom.

However, when the time calls for it, Luke has used cinema quality cameras such as the Panasonic Varicam LT and EVA1, as well as the Canon C200 and Arri Alexa XT+, in conjunction with Samyang and Xeen cine lenses. He also has experience using the DJI Ronin, CameTV Gimbal and Wireless Follow Focus.

When he’s not holding a camera, Luke edits using Adobe software, and colour grades using DaVinci Resolve.
